Integrity, Compassion, & Service
The Hunter Mill District deserves a leader who will guide us into 2020 with the vision, integrity, and compassion to bring innovation to our community, while preserving its natural beauty – a leader that reflects the great diversity of thought and culture across our region. That leader is me.
Our district has distinct communities–Reston, Vienna, and small parts of Oakton and Herndon. People choose to live in each community because of its uniqueness. Robert E. Simon’s vision for Reston speaks to my values; built on integration of socio-economic and racial diversity set amidst nature with trails and village centers that encourage a sense of community. I find the small town feel and community of Vienna charming. The diversity of Herndon is inviting as is the suburban feel of Oakton. Any growth and development needs to retain the integrity of the community in which it is set. As Supervisor, I aim to retain the uniqueness of each community as we move forward. It is essential that every decision made at the county level is made with the lens of equity, equality, and environmental sustainability. If we do this and hold close the uniqueness of the various parts of the Hunter Mill District we can continue to thrive and still be the inclusive communities for which we are known.
As a grassroots community organizer, I understand the importance of engaging you in decisions that will affect your lives. I have walked miles and worn out shoes knocking on doors and talking to residents about their concerns, asking for their input and expertise, and advocating for those concerns before our elected officials. My leadership style is inclusive and accessible, I pay close attention to the details, and enjoy working collaboratively to solve problems. Our local government is where the rubber meets the road. This is where we make change that affects each of us on a daily basis. Having led a life of service around the world, across this great nation, and right here in Fairfax County, I want us to be the leader of a progressive vision of community for the Commonwealth and the nation. It would be my honor to serve as your next Supervisor.
